Oakland

Once an exclusive, Victorian-style suburb on Chicago's south side, Oakland is a small community area that is home to one of Chicago's many historic districts. The Oakland District, built between 1872 to 1905 by Cicero Hine and other various architects, includes a wide range of unique architectural styles including Romanesque, Classical Revival, and "medieval inspired French and Spanish architecture." The homes that distinguishes the community, though, are the Queen Ann-style residences, which are "generally simple, yet elegant in ornamentation," and feature large porches and multiple chimneys
